Healing
Every individual's skin heals differently, and healing times can vary from person to person.
This brief aftercare guide is designed to help you navigate the healing process and ensure the best possible outcome for your tattoo.

SECOND SKIN HEALING
THE FIRST FEW HOURS
Your tattoo has been protected with a Second Skin bandage immediately following your appointment.
During the first 24-48 hours, it is completely normal to see a mixture of plasma, blood, and excess ink collecting beneath the bandage. This is a natural part of the healing process and helps the skin begin repairing itself.
The bandage should remain in place and the seal should stay intact. Avoid excessive sweating, soaking the area, or activities that may cause the edges to lift.
DAY 1-4
As healing progresses, the fluid trapped beneath the bandage will gradually be reabsorbed by the body or settle within the dressing. The tattoo may appear cloudy, wrinkled, or slightly distorted through the film—this is completely normal.
During this stage, the tattoo is actively healing beneath the bandage. You may experience mild itching or tightness, but the area should remain protected. Continue avoiding swimming, baths, hot tubs, and activities that may compromise the seal.
***If the bandage develops a leak, lifts significantly, or allows outside contaminants to reach the tattoo, remove it immediately and follow standard aftercare instructions.***
Day 5
Remove the Second Skin under warm running water. Slowly stretch the film parallel to the skin rather than pulling it directly away from the body.
Taking your time will make removal much more comfortable and help prevent unnecessary irritation.
Once removed, gently wash the tattoo with a fragrance-free soap and pat dry with a clean towel.
At this stage, the tattoo may appear slightly dry, shiny, or begin to flake. This is a normal transition into the final stages of healing.
Day 5-14
Wash the tattoo daily and apply a very thin layer of fragrance-free moisturizer as needed.
The skin may begin to peel, flake, or itch, similar to a mild sunburn. Avoid scratching or picking at any peeling skin, as this can interfere with healing and affect the final appearance of the tattoo.
Continue to avoid prolonged sun exposure, swimming, and soaking the tattoo until the skin has fully healed.
